Hi! Adrian has been a big boy eversince his birth, in fact at 8 months he weighed about 8.5kgs. Then I noticed that since then his weight has been ever so slowly increasing. At 12 months he's at 10.2kgs then now that he's 16 months its just around 10.6kg. He drinks milk well, eats a fair amount of solids as well. When I asked the pedia he told me that he's ok and that I need not worry and continue to feed him well. Oh but, I still am worried (though I don't want him to be overweight just want to see a healthy growth trend) I started him with multivitamins last week and see if it helps.

He's been taking thyroid meds since he was 12 months, could that be the cause of his slow weight gain? His length has been very good though that's why he's looking a bit slimmer now.
I'm not sure if I'm making any sense LOL but would really love to hear your insights and experiences. tnx!

Hey. I'm not sure about the Kg measurements. But Austin weighed 23 pounds at 1 year. He weighs 23 1/2 pounds at 21 months. He doesnt' have any thyroid issues. But I think that they do platue with their weight. HE is however, growing very tall.

Both my boys only gained a couple pounds between their first and second birthday. I think that's normal, just not a huge growth spurt at that time! If I did my math correctly, he's around 23 lbs? That sounds good to me at his age. I wouldn't worry about it. I know you said he's on meds for his thyroid, but if they're doing periodic blood tests, that will tell you if he's getting the right dose for his thyroid to work properly.

All of my kids sort of plateaued at around a year old. I wouldn't be worried at all. Once they start moving around, they plateau. It seems like Kennedy has been 26 pounds forever. But she is walking and running around now and gets tons of exercise. And she still eats pretty much the same amt. of food. Hope this helps a litle!

Yeah, Matt was the same. He plateaued too. He carried on growing upwards though slimmed down considerably. All kids tend to at that kind of age, and with increased activity it happens. Unless he's becoming more tired, or more prone to infections, etc, it sounds like just a natural levelling off.

Another point to consider is how active is he in the day. That might mean he's burning off what he's putting in the way of eating and there is little left over to add on if you know what I mean.
I have the same thing with Robert, but he's very active on the floor, etc. I'm not worried.
